Response Time

What to expect

We typically respond within 1–2 business days. If your issue is urgent — especially anything related to the emergency feature — please say so in the subject or first line of your message and we will prioritise it.

Include your iOS version and SayMail version (visible in the App Store under your purchases) to help us diagnose issues faster.

Common Questions

Before you write

These are the most common issues and how to resolve them quickly.

The app is not sending emails

If you are using SayMail Email Service, check that you have an internet connection. If you are using Other Email Service (SMTP), double-check your SMTP host, port, username, and password in Settings. See saymail.me/smtp for help finding your provider's SMTP settings.

The microphone is not working

Go to iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and make sure SayMail is enabled. If it is already on, try toggling it off and back on, then relaunch the app.

The emergency feature is not triggering

Make sure you have set an emergency trigger phrase in Settings and that an Emergency CC address is entered. Speak the phrase clearly and at a normal volume — the phrase is matched against the transcription, so background noise can interfere.

Emails are going to spam

Add no-reply@saymail.me to your contacts on the receiving device. This tells your email provider the address is trusted. For Gmail, you can also mark a received message as "Not Spam" to train the filter.

The app closes before I finish speaking

SayMail uses a 30-second recording limit and a 5-second silence detection window. If you pause for more than 5 seconds after speaking, the app treats the pause as a natural end and sends. Keep your message within 30 seconds or speak without long pauses.

Push notifications via Pushover are not arriving

See the Pushover setup guide for step-by-step instructions. Make sure the Pushover email alias is entered correctly in the Emergency CC field in SayMail Settings.
